Your midterm project is to create and implement an interaction design for a website about a personal subject matter. Some examples are:
- an important place that you've lived or visited
- a friend or family member that you love and respect
- an event that was important to you
- an idea that is an essential part of who you are
- a hobby that you enjoy participating
You should allow the subject matter of your website to define the visual elements of your design. Look for a metaphor that might capture the essence of your site. Your subject matter cannot be a website portfolio of your art.
Your midterm project should demonstrate the following skills:
- HTML that is:
- coded by hand
- nests tags
- uses proper tag syntax
- shows consistency
- HTML Tables (including a table within a table)
- Optimized gifs and jpegs
- Applicable design principles learned from reading, Web presentations, class, etc.
- Include a rollover and either an image map or an animation
- Total page size less than 150k (html and graphics combined)
- Above the fold design fits 800x600 browser window (760x420)
- Tests the same in IE, Safari & Mozilla on MAC OSX
Your midterm project grade will be based on this:
- Applying the skills listed above (50%)
- Implementing an easy-to-use, clean navigation(25%)
- Your ability to integrate yoru subject matter and design into a visually and emotionally compelling experience (25%)
All project must be uploaded to your FTP account prior to the day of the midterm critique. |
